Wished I Was In Heaven Sitting Down
Fred McDowell played some of the finest slide guitar ever recorded. This is one of his greatest recordings, taken from his first session in 1959 for folklorist Alan Lomax. Lomax recorded McDowell as the guitarist sat on his front porch.Who needs a studio?

Rob, I'm crazy about Long Sought Home. Everything I've listened to has gotten me right HERE (thump fist to chest now). I've linked The Celestial Monochord to LSH back at you -- I've but not in the usual log-rolling Blogroll way. I really believe in what you're doing. Keep going.
